Dinner & Movie Westside Park

(Preston, IA) – Imagine yourself in a big beautifully manicured grassy field laying on your favorite blanket staring up at a starry summer sky and all of a sudden a 20’ by 30’ projection screen comes alive with bright vivid colors and amazing sound telling the story of one of the most recent releases of a family friendly Hollywood motion picture creating a night of laughs, tears, joy and wonderful memories of spending quality time with your family.  If you would like to have this experience Preston, IA is the place for you on Friday, June 14th.  The City of Preston Walking Path Committee devised a plan to encourage neighbors, residents and visitors to get out into the fresh summer air and enjoy a family Hollywood Blockbuster.  This will be the first of three separate movie presentations to be shown in Preston’s Westside Park where a recent park project was completed adding a wonderful one third of a mile concrete lighted walking path featuring a beautiful serenity garden.

“I’m excited for Preston to host ‘Dinner and a Movie’ for the community and anyone who wants to enjoy a night at the movies under the stars in Preston.  It is my hope that ‘Dinner and a Movie’ becomes an annual event in June, July and August.”, said Mayor Richard Betts. There is no admission fee to the evening event.  There will be free popcorn for everyone.  The food stand will begin serving at 5pm and make available for purchase dinner for the whole family.  Brats, hotdogs, butterfly chop sandwiches, chips, beverages, bars and that all time favorite summer treat Root Beer Floats will be available at the food stand.  All proceeds will go toward the continued upgrade of Preston parks.  Mark your calendars, Friday, June 14th will be the first ‘Dinner and a Movie’ presentation.  The movie will begin at dusk.

Events such as this are not possible without the generous help of sponsors.  Skitter of Preston, IA has graciously sponsored the first ‘Dinner and a Movie’ night.  It takes a lot of amazing volunteers and generous financial contributions from businesses to present a large scale event like this.  Preston is well known for partnering with local businesses creating amazing events like ‘Dinner and a Movie’.  Thanks to Skitter of Preston this inaugural event will be a free family friendly event.

Bring blankets, pillows, and lawn chairs for your comfort.  For more information about the movie you can go to the City of Preston website or Facebook page.  “I encourage everyone to take advantage of this wonderful event.  I’ll be there.  Hope you will too!” said Mayor Richard Betts.
