Services of the Preston Police Department The Preston Police Department currently has two patrol cars, a 2006 & 2008 Chevrolet Impala 9C1 police cruisers. Both patrol cars are equipped with an in-car camera system that was purchased through the Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau's STEP program. In addition to the in-car camera systems, both vehicles are equipped with Panasonic Toughbook computers that enable officers to enter and search for data, records, photos, etc. while on patrol. Having the computers in the patrol cars makes for a "mobile office". The patrol cars also are equipped with push bumpers, prisoner partitions, crime scene equipment, first aid equipment, digital cameras, spike systems (for pursuits), spot lights, PBT's, lock out equipment, speed trailer, tint meters, and of course, emergency lighting. The department currently has all LED lights for maintaining the highest visibility for the safety of officers and motorists.
