The City of Preston has a Council/Mayor form of Government with a City Clerk and Deputy Clerk. The Preston City Council meets at 6:00 p.m., Preston City Hall, 1 West Gillet Street, on the 2nd & 4th Mondays of each month.

The city employs five full time outside personnel to maintain streets and parks, the electric, gas, water, sewer, and refuse collection utilities.
